Green Line bus project to be completed by March 2020

Karachi:           The Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL) disclosed during a meeting chaired by President Dr Arif Alvi that the Green Line rapid bus project is expected to be completed by March 2020.

According to SIDCL’s Chief Executive Officer Sualeh Farooqi, Phase-I of the 21 km corridor of the Green Line bus project has been completed along with OCC building and depot. He added that work on Phase-II was in progress, which includes construction of a 1.1 km underpass, 462 metre underground bus terminal and 1.5 km common corridor from Guru Mandar to Municipal Park on M.A. Jinnah Road.

He further briefed the president that Rs2.5bn has been allocated by the federal government for the operation of the Green Line. SIDCL is going to float request for proposal for the procurement of 65 diesel-hybrid buses for the project soon, Mr Farooqi added.

Other projects by SIDCL include completion of 8.1 km long Manghopir Road from Jam Chakro to Banaras Chowk, construction of three flyovers along Shershah Suri Road at Sakhi Hassan, Five Star and KDA roundabouts, and disaster management initiatives.
