According to a statement issued by the PMD’s Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, a third monsoon spell is expected to perforate through most parts of the country.

The previous monsoon system ravaged through Karachi, leaving most parts of the city inundated, such as DHA Phase 6 Khayaban-e-Seher.

To tackle the drainage issue and to be prepared for the coming spell, Defence Authorities have deployed almost 350 pumps throughout the locality to recover the inundated areas.

The current havoc wreaked by these torrential rains have exposed the flaws in Karachi’s drainage and waste management system, forcing authorities to look into the matter of improving the city’s dire condition. If further spells continue, other areas of the city are expected to become inundated as well, unless proper measures are put in place.
