The town planning of Islamabad is managed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Unlike other civic development authorities in Pakistan, CDA possesses a substantially better reputation in terms of infrastructure development. Being the leading player in Islamabad’s town planning circle, CDA carries a rich track record of executing planned housing societies known in Islamabad as “Sectors”. The CDA approved sectors in Islamabad are the preferred choice of residence for people living in the city due to their admirable planning and development.

Sectors in Islamabad

The territory of federal capital is divided into 5 zones, namely:

  • Zone-I
  • Zone-II
  • Zone-III
  • Zone-IV
  • Zone-V

Zone I and Zone II have been designated as urban development zones, and all sectors of Islamabad fall within the zones. These sectors are the administrative divisions of Zone I and II. Zone I is the largest developed residential area, while Zone IV is the largest in terms of the overall area.

The sectors within these zones are divided by 2×2 km area packets which are categorized in alphabetical order vertically and in numerical order horizontally. Accordingly, in alphabetical numbers, the CDA sectors Islamabad range from A to I. In numerical terms, the area allocation ranges between 5 to 17. For instance, Sector G has a further denomination of 13 numbers, like G-5, G.6, G-7, and so on, while Sector D has 7 numerical divisions. The same goes for the rest of the alphabetical classifications.

Sector E, F, and G are regarded as the oldest, and first developed sectors of Islamabad, followed by Sector H and I. The alphabets of each sector are not meaningless either. Each alphabet defines a certain standard of development, with Sector E and F being the most well-developed, and understandably expensive. While, Sectors like G, H, and I are comparatively less expensive and affordable for the middle class.

If you are curious to learn about the facts about each sector, then keep reading through till the end of this blog to be completely aware of the standard of living in each sector of Islamabad.
