Pakistan plans on celebrating Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary in a grand way

LAHORE: In a meeting chaired by Information and Culture Secretary Raja Jahangir, various cultural departments were directed to present proposals within a week regarding celebrations of the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak in November.

An opportunity to promote religious tourism, the Punjab government has decided to celebrate the birth of Guru Nanak in a grand way to cater to the Sikh community.

The meeting was held at Alhamra Art Centre, as the Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Athar Ali Khan, Punjab Council of Arts Executive Director Saman Rai, Deputy Director Art and Culture of the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture Asim Chauhdry, representatives of Bab-i-Pakistan project, Film Censor Board, Punjab Information Commission, Lahore Museum and officials of other departments were in attendance.

The Culture Department informed of plans to organise different cultural activities like exhibitions, theatre plays and musical evenings to celebrate the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.
