Rs46,302.528mn granted to NHA projects under PSDP

ISLAMABAD: The government released a grant of Rs 46,302.528 million out of a total of Rs154966.835 million allocated for the development of road infrastructure projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) to National Highway Authority (NHA).

The projects under PSDP include the construction of Hakla-D I Khan Motorway for which Rs 11500 million was released. Rs 750 million have been issued out of the total for land acquisition, compensation of affected properties compensation and relocation of utilities for construction of the motorway from Burhan/Hakla to D.I. Khan.

Rs500 million have been released out of a total of Rs 1,000 million allocated to build a four-lane bridge across Indus River linking Layyah with Taunsa. This also includes a 24 km long two-lane approach road and river training works.

To connect Kala Shah Kaku to Lahore Ring Road including over Ravi River (Lahore Eastern Bypass), the construction work for an 18.3 km lengthy highway worth Rs1, 090.589 with six lanes has been earmarked.

An additional Rs1, 250 million have been allocated for land acquisition, compensation of affected properties and relocation of utilities for construction of a six-lane highway from Kala Shah Kaku to Lahore Ring Road, out of which Rs 650 million have been released.

To kick-start the construction of a 29.1 km Burhan-Havelian Expressway (E-35), the government had allotted Rs1931.980 million, out of which Rs 810 million have been released. Rs5000 million allocated and released to embark the construction of Faisalabad-Khanewal (M-4).

Connecting Burhan with Havelian through a 29.1 km expressway (E-35), Rs810 million have been issued out of a total allocation of Rs1931.980 million for the project.

Furthermore, to build a 184-km lengthy M-4 to link Faisalabad with Khanewal, the authorities had allocated and released Rs500 million.

To complete the Rs 2000 million dualisation and improvement of Pindigheb- Kohat Road under PSDP, Rs 1000 million have been issued, along with Rs 1600 million out of Rs4000 million for Sarai Gambila-Kohat section of Indus Highway.

The Thokar Niaz Baig to Hudyiara Drain Multan Road (N-5) is also set to be widened by adding two-lanes on either side of the road in Rs2000 million.

Under the PSDP, a total of Rs4500 million had been allocated for the Lahore-Multan Motorway (M-3 section) of Karachi – Lahore Motorway, out of which Rs2, 340 million have been released so far.

Rs1, 750 million were released for the Jaglot-Skardu Road (S-1,167 km) which is to be upgraded in Rs3500 million.
