Islamabad: Minister for Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema informed the National Assembly Standing Committee about a total of 19000 flats to be constructed in the capital under the first phase of ‘Naya Pakistan Housing Programme.’

Several private and others lands have been considered for the purpose however, the formal announcement will be made on April 17 at the inauguration by Prime minister Imran Khan.

In regard to the establishment of the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority, foreclosure laws and housing-specific loan recovery procedures have been put forward to the Cabinet Committee. Respective formalities are expected to be completed by this week.

Further undergoing projects under discussion included the construction of 30,000 apartments on CDA land near Chaklala, housing projects of the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) and development work in Green Enclave-1 and Green Enclave–II.
