The minister further said that the move was in continuation of the Clean Green Pakistan Movement (CGPM) launched in October, 2018.

The movement addresses institutional measures and targets behaviour changes in five areas namely sanitation, solid waste management, liquid waste management, tree plantation and safe drinking water.

According to the minister, the important objectives of CGPM were Knowledge and Practice, Voice and Accountability, Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation and Healthy Competition.

In an attempt to realise the mentioned objectives, the federal government has initiated establishment of a dashboard, training and orientation of city government officials, Clean Green Pakistan Index (CGPI) and raw data analysis etc.
