PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has approved a sum of Rs15.594 million for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Nahqi Tunnel in tribal Bajaur District.
The CM said that the Nahqi Tunnel would not only benefit the residents of Bajaur, but will also be advantageous to the people of Mohmand District and Malakand Division.
Additionally, he approved the creation of 14 more posts in the Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PKHA) to manage the operations and maintenance of Nahqi Tunnel, issuing instructions for locals to be hired to the subject posts.
While chairing a meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Council at the Chief Minister Secretariat, Mahmood reiterated the provincial government’s aim to prioritise the reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads and other infrastructure in the Newly Merged Tribal Districts (NMTDs).
According to Mahmood, quality infrastructure in the province will serve to vastly improve travelling experiences and will aid in promoting tourism as well as help restore industries and investment.
