The sector was launched back in 1989.

More than 4,000 people had been waiting to get possession of plots in E-12. However, due to a dispute between the civic authority and villagers, the residents had been suffering.

The dispute was linked to compensation against land and built-up property.

It is pertinent to state that last year, a commission formed by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed the CDA to get done with the issue and clear the villagers’ compensations for getting possession of plots for development.

According to media reports, payments had been made to the civic agency in 1989. But, despite the passage of 33 years, people had still been waiting to get possession of their developed plots.

As per CDA’s Land and Estate Wing, 120 plots of various sizes in E-12 and I-12 were allotted through the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra). In December, the CDA had allotted 162 plots to people.

SAPM on CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan graced the balloting ceremony as chief guest. Moreover, CDA’s Deputy Director General (Estate and Land) Afnan Alam, member planning Naveed Ilahi, and other officers were also present.

The SAPM said successive governments didn’t pay heed to resolve this issue, adding that the PTI government provided relief to people in this regard.

Last year, the Capital Development Authority had initiated partial development work, which slowed down later on.

“Without fast-paced development work, we cannot satisfy the people that have been allotted plots. They were supposed to acquire possession of developed plots in 1990, which was one year after allotment,” said a CDA official.
