
ISLAMABAD: While chairing the second meeting of the Pak-China relations steering committee, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar reviewed the progress of ongoing projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The meeting was attended by Secretary Planning, Secretary Foreign, Secretary Interior, Secretary Railways, Secretary Power, Secretary Finance, National Security Adviser, Chairman NHA, Chairman, CPEC Authority, Chairman Gwadar Development Authority, Director-General of the Joint Staff Headquarters, Chief of General Staff/Director General Military Operations, Chief of Staff Naval Headquarters, Director General Intelligence/Analysis of the ISI and senior officers of the Ministries/Divisions.
Discussing the progress of the 884 MW Suki Kinari project, the planning minister directed the authorities to resolve operational issues, ensuring timely completion.
For the operationalization 660 KV HVDC Matari Lahore Transmission Line scheduled from September 01, 2021, officials of the power division were directed to provide sufficient power for the project by the committee.
On the other hand, the National Electric Power Regulation Authority (NEPRA) was tasked with finalizing the tariff rates for the project during the testing stage.
The Ministry of Communication was tasked to submit a proposal prompting acceleration of work on the Thakot–Raikot Road and, Zhob-Quetta road projects to commence the next level of development.
