
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been authorised by the Cabinet to remove all encroachments by any organization or individual, across the federal capital.
The decision came after Chairman CDA Amir Ali Ahmed gave a presentation pertaining to the matter. The illegal encroachments have constrained the construction of roads as per the Master Plan, it was further informed.
In this regard, Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered the removal of all encroachments in green areas, especially the Margalla Hills National Park, and the implementation of the original Master Plan.
The meeting further discussed the efforts initiated to restore green belts alongside sectors E-8 & E-9 at Khayaban-e-Iqbal, and the removal of barricades and unauthorized parking. Alternate parking has been established inside Sector E-8, along with the development of green belts on the northern side of Khayaban -e-Iqbal has been started, the meeting was informed.
The Islamabad Traffic Police has been directed to remove the unauthorized setup on the green belt of Sector E-8
On the other hand, the progress of the Shaheen Chowk underpass/flyover project – aimed at catering for the traffic flow, was also discussed in the meeting. It was informed that PC-1 has been approved and work is scheduled to start within 3 months.
