
UPPER DIR: Construction of buildings and infrastructure are a major part of the Rs900 million uplift package for Upper Dir district, announced Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan in a public meeting.
A sum of Rs500mn from the total of Rs900mn will be utilised for mega projects, among which the construction of the Chakdara-Dir-Chitral Expressway is one of the priorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Other schemes include the establishment of an engineering university, construction of the press club building and Rs200 million construction of two RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) bridges.
Meanwhile, solarisation of mosques in Upper Dir, establishment of a degree college, provision of fire brigade facility, construction of new roads and completion of work on ongoing road projects are also part of the provincial government’s development plans.
The CM further pledged the release of funds for ongoing development schemes in Upper Dir district and prompt completion of the Kumrat Road.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensure early completion of the Swat Motorway Phase-II, Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway, Chitral-Chakdara Road, Chashma lift irrigation scheme, wheeling of electricity scheme and other similar projects.
Mahmood said that the development schemes would not only guarantee greater revenue generation, but would also provide vast livelihood opportunities to the people across the province.
