
ISLAMABAD: The National Economic Council’s (Ecnec) Executive Committee presided by Finance and Revenue Adviser, approved four development schemes worth Rs265 billion including the long-awaited Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway, which will provide a seamless link between Peshawar and Karachi.
According to the finance ministry, the committee approved the updated proposal for the construction of the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract worth Rs191.5 billion.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) will execute the project and envision the construction of a 306-kilometre-long, six-lane-wide highway between Hyderabad and Sukkur. The PPPA has approved the Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway project’s viability gap fund and transaction structure.
ECNEC also approved the Rs25 billion land acquisition project for the Lai Expressway and Flood Channel in Rawalpindi, the Rawalpindi Ring Road (R3) worth Rs23.6 billion, and the Southern Punjab Poverty Alleviation Project (SPPAP) worth Rs25.2 billion.
