
ISLAMABAD: The second phase of FTA with China will become effective from December 1, 2019, announced Adviser to PM on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood in a news conference.
Marking the start of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Mr Razak said that this initiative is set to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Pakistan and China and ensure the rapid growth of businesses.
He further announced that China agreed to import fruits and vegetables from Pakistan after negotiations were held while visiting to give market access to Pakistani agricultural products, as this will increase exports adding to the economy of Pakistan. An additional quota of 0.5 million tons of rice has also been requested, compared to last year’s quota of 250,000 tons.
“I have also requested the Chinese Commerce Minister to give a special quota of 300,000 tons of sugar for this year as the crushing season is going to start soon,” he added.
