
KARACHI: A high-profile body, on Wednesday, requested the government to tax the real estate sector and retailers in order to find avenues for revenue mobilisation.
The suggestion was made to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif a few months ago.
The committee members who attended the meeting included Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to the PM (SAPM) on Finance Tariq Bajwa, SAPM on Revenue Tariq Pasha, Reforms and Revenue Mobilisation Commission Chairman Ashfaq Tola and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Asim Ahmad.
The committee asked private members who held important positions in the private sector to pour in their suggestions to find ways to collect more revenue.
