LCCI establishes Rs3m Emergency Fund for KPK flood-hit people

LAHORE – The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Sunday announced an emergency relief fund of Rs3 million to support flood-affected communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Of this amount, Rs2.5 million has been allocated by the Chamber itself, while Rs0.5 million was personally donated by LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad.

Appealing to the nation’s business community, philanthropists, and welfare organisations, Shad urged unity and collective action in this time of crisis. “The devastation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is among the worst human tragedies in recent history. Entire villages have been swept away, families left homeless, and countless lives shattered. Those who survived have lost their homes, belongings, livestock, and livelihoods while struggling with shortages of food, clean water, medicines, and shelter. Their cries for help cannot go unanswered,” he said.

Under the relief initiative, Rs1 million will be spent immediately on essential medicines, while the remaining funds will provide food, clothing, tents, and other necessities. The first consignment of relief supplies will be dispatched within days under direct LCCI supervision to ensure transparency and timely distribution.

Shad further announced plans to mobilize Lahore’s business community to raise at least Rs10 million for large-scale rehabilitation efforts, which will be handed over to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. “This is not a time for personal or political interests, but for unity as a nation. If we act together, we can ease the suffering of our brothers and sisters who have lost everything,” he emphasized.

The LCCI president also appealed to citizens, overseas Pakistanis, and philanthropists to contribute donations, zakat, and relief goods—including food, clothing, tents, blankets, and medicines—through the Chamber. He assured complete transparency in distribution and reaffirmed LCCI’s commitment to stand by the victims until their lives return to normalcy. “With collective efforts and the blessings of Almighty Allah, the affected families will rebuild their lives. The Lahore Chamber will remain at the forefront of this mission,” he added.
