Pakistan, India sign Kartarpur Corridor Agreement

NAROWAL: To pave the way for the inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor before the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, Director General (South Asia and SAARCC) Dr Mohammad Faisal of the Foreign Office and Indian Ministry of Home Affairs Joint Secretary S. C. L. Das sign the Kartarpur Corridor Agreement on behalf of India and Pakistan.

Under the agreement, the formal inauguration of the project will be held on November 9.

The corridor will remain open seven days a week from dusk till dawn, and the pilgrims will arrive at daytime and return by the evening via the corridor.

The project will facilitate 5,000 pilgrims a day, who will carry their passports for identification and scanning purposes but not be stamped.

The Indian authorities will provide a list of pilgrims 10 days ahead of their visit, who will be given passes to visit their sacred place.

Following the inauguration of the corridor, a visa-free link between Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur and Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Indian’s Punjab will open for the pilgrims.
