Lahore: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved development projects worth PKR 15.76 billion in the sectors of roads, wildlife, and tourism during its 20th meeting of the current fiscal year, held on Monday under the chairmanship of Dr. Naeem Rauf, Chairman of the Planning & Development (P&D) Board Punjab.
Among the key initiatives, the board sanctioned the “Strengthening and Capacity Building of the Wildlife Department for the Conservation of Wildlife in Punjab”, revised at a cost of PKR 3.63 billion, and the “Revamping and Experience Development of Bahawalpur Zoo”, with an allocation of PKR 3.47 billion.
In infrastructure, approval was granted for the construction of an additional Ring Road from Bahawalpur Railway Station to Bino Hospital at a cost of PKR 1.62 billion, the rehabilitation of the Sahiwal–Pakpattan Road valued at PKR 4.51 billion, and the rehabilitation of Sammundri–Sahiwal Road (Revised) with a budget of PKR 2.45 billion.
For tourism, the PDWP endorsed a PKR 50 million feasibility study for the installation of a chairlift and cable car from Lakot to Pindi Point in Murree.
Dr. Rauf emphasized that these projects will enhance road connectivity, support wildlife conservation, and promote eco-tourism, reflecting the government’s commitment to sustainable development, improved mobility, and the preservation of Punjab’s natural heritage.
The meeting was also attended by P&D Board Secretary Rafaqat Ali, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, and other senior officials.
