
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Planning Development and Reforms has approved the release of Rs3.991 billion for various development projects in the agriculture sector under the ‘PM Agriculture Emergency Programme’ for the uplift of agriculture and livestock sectors in the country under Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) 2019-20.
Release of Rs4.819 billion for overall developmental projects of Ministry of National Food Security and Research under PSDP 2019 against the total allocation of Rs12.047 billion has been authorised by the concerned authorities as per the latest data on PSDP issued by the Planning Commission of Pakistan.
The national program for improvement of watercourses phase-1 was also given a release of RS2.288 billion against the total allocation of Rs5.500 billion to save water.
The current fiscal year’s development agenda also saw the authorisation of the release of Rs240 million for national oil seed enhancement program as the government has allocated Rs600 million in its PSDP 2019-20.
With a focus on the enhancement of productivity of all major crops, the release of Rs180 million for rice against the total allocation of Rs450million and Rs80 million for sugarcane out of the total allocation of Rs200 million was also authorised.
The Planning Commission of Pakistan has also authorised the release of Rs260 million for productivity enhancement of wheat against the total allocation of Rs650 million for the current fiscal year.
