Swat Motorway opened for tourists on Eid-ul-Fitr

Swat: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has opened Swat Motorway for light traffic vehicles on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. The motorway provides a fast route access to tourism destinations like Swat, Kalam, Kumrat and Dir. Reports are already coming in of a large number of tourists from all over Pakistan travelling on the Swat Motorway.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had earlier announced the opening of Swat Motorway on eid. This motorway reduces travel time from Islamabad to Swat from six to three hours. Swat Motorway facilitates Swat valley and adjoining areas of Malakand, Chitral and Shangla Pir. It starts at Karnal Sher Khan interchange on M1 and ends at Chakdara. Swat Motorway is 81 kilometers long and offers a four lane access. Swat Motorway will bring tourism revenue to local districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.  This will help generate tourism and hospitality related jobs and business opportunities for the locals.  Estimated cost of the expressway stands at Rs43 billion.
