Rawalpindi: A total of 500 new development schemes worth Rs86.9 billion are set to launch in the garrison city.
While chairing a review meeting of Divisional Development Working Party, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah directed the authorities to ensure regular monitoring of the development schemes for timely completion.
Any building declared dangerous should be demolished, he further added.
Out of the total, 430 development schemes have been approved, whereas the authorities approve the schemes left.
Under the annual development program for the district, 361 schemes approved, including 264 new and 96 ongoing projects, have been approved by the authorities.
The announced development projects include 72 of Building Division, 50 of Local Government and Community Development, 33 of Highway Division, 29 of Public Health, 12 of RC Division, five each of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), 4 of Sports Department, and one small dam project.
The remaining schemes belong to the Allied Hospitals, Tourism, TEVTA, Wildlife, and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA).
The development schemes will boost the socio-economic development of the district.
The relevant authorities have been ordered to pay regular visits to the allocated projects to monitor progress, which will be reported to public representatives and the Commissioner office.
