KARACHI: In a bid to clear the streets of illegal occupations and ensure public access to roads and sidewalks, an anti-encroachment operation was carried out in the Buffer zone, Landi Kotal, and Ship Owner College Roundabout areas of Karachi.
The Assistant Commissioner of North Nazimabad, Hazim Bangwar, led the operation, which saw the removal of encroachments from public spaces.
The operation team confiscated illegal stalls, carts, and other objects that obstructed pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The authorities have urged the public to respect the right of way and not to encroach on public land in the future.
The news of the anti-encroachment operation has been shared on the official Twitter account of DC Karachi Central, highlighting the authorities’ commitment to ensuring public safety and convenience.
The officials have also been working to ensure that the city’s waterways are clear of blockages before the rainy season. The nullahs, including KDA, Nagin, and Haideri, have been cleared to prevent flooding and ensure a smooth flow of water.
They have requested the residents to avoid dumping garbage in the nullahs, which could cause clogging and lead to flooding during the rainy season.
Local residents have praised the efforts of the Assistant Commissioner and the operation team for their timely action to restore public spaces to their rightful use. They hope that such actions will deter others from encroaching on public land in the future.
