ISLAMABAD: In a meeting of the Cabinet committee on CPEC chaired by Asad Umar, Minister for Planning and Development and Special Initiatives, different infrastructure projects were approved.
As per the details, approved projects included the transformation and rearrangement of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) from Thakot to Raikot along with the provision of utilities to Special Economic Zones (SEZs) of CPEC.
The meeting included many important stakeholders including Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan.
The project of realignment of the KKH was approved by the Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP).
Other projects that were discussed in the meeting included vacation of Pakistan coast guards, PN and PCG land at Shamba Ismail, Gwadar, and construction of industrial and business towers in Islamabad with Private and Public Partnerships (PPP).
During the meeting, the Ministry of Communication and other stakeholders were directed to follow punctuality and meet the deadlines so that the project can be completed on time.
