CDA Approves 85% Increase in House Rent Ceiling

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved an 85% increase in the house rent ceiling for all employees, with the revised rates taking effect from November 1, 2025. A CDA spokesperson confirmed to APP that the authority issued the official notification on November 18, titled “Revision of Rental Ceiling for Hiring of Residential Accommodation at Islamabad and Other Specified Stations including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta.” He added that the CDA follows federal government decisions regarding rental ceiling enhancements for its staff.

The spokesperson noted that the substantial increase comes as a major relief during high inflation, helping employees manage their housing expenses and improving their standard of living.

In a separate development, the CDA has launched a new online complaint-redressal system, enabling citizens to report civic issues directly by tagging the authority’s official account @cdathecapital or CDA Chairman @RandhawaAli on social media. According to officials, the initiative aims to make municipal services more efficient, transparent, and easier to monitor.

The CDA spokesperson said that complaints submitted online will be addressed “immediately,” with field teams dispatched promptly to resolve issues at residents’ doorsteps. He added that the system is designed to strengthen direct engagement with citizens and reduce the delays often associated with traditional complaint channels.

While many residents have welcomed the move as a step toward modernisation, some remain cautiously optimistic, pointing out that previous complaint systems have faced challenges such as slow response times and poor interdepartmental coordination.
