CDA Begins Handing Over Developed Plots in Islamabad’s Sector I-15 After Two Decades

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has officially begun handing over developed plots to allottees in Sector I-15, marking the long-awaited delivery of one of Islamabad’s most delayed housing projects.

The handover ceremony, held at the Jinnah Convention Centre, was chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with DG NAB Rawalpindi/Islamabad Waqar Ahmed Chauhan serving as the chief guest. The event was attended by CDA Board Members, the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, NAB officials, and hundreds of plot owners.

CDA confirmed that the possession process has started for more than 8,600 out of 10,200 developed plots, collectively valued at over Rs. 17 billion. During Thursday’s ceremony alone, over 200 allottees received formal possession of their plots. Designed to benefit low-income citizens, Sector I-15’s completion marks a major milestone after nearly twenty years of delays.

Chairman Randhawa stated that development work in Sector I-15 is now complete and emphasized that addressing Islamabad’s housing needs—under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi—remains a key priority for the CDA. He also acknowledged NAB’s crucial role in resolving long-standing obstacles.

DG NAB Waqar Ahmed Chauhan highlighted that strong coordination between NAB and CDA ensured transparency and safeguarded the rights of allottees. He noted that possession letters were issued only after thorough verification and announced the introduction of barcode-enabled allotment letters to prevent forgery, along with a proposal for mandatory escrow accounts in housing societies to ensure proper use of collected funds.

Plot owners expressed appreciation to the CDA leadership, saying the long-awaited handover not only resolves their housing concerns but also contributes to Islamabad’s broader development.
