Islamabad – A meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, regarding the ongoing anti-encroachment operations in Islamabad. The DC ICT, DIG Operations, Enforcement Wing, Environment Wing, Building Control, and relevant Assistant Commissioners of Islamabad attended the meeting.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that vigorous operations should be launched to eliminate encroachments throughout the city and strengthen the government’s writ. He emphasized that the Enforcement Wing, Environment Wing and the relevant Assistant Commissioners should take ownership collectively and work in aid to one another to make the anti-encroachment operation successful.
CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa also mentioned that the constant surveillance should continue even after removing encroachments. The CDA Chairman directed a comprehensive operation against encroachments around the streams flowing into Rawal Dam to protect the water from pollution.
The meeting also imposed Section 144 to halt all construction activities in Zone III and the Margallah Hills. CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that FIRs would be registered against those who attempt to re-encroach the spaces cleared from illegal encroachment.
In this connection, he directed that habitual offenders must be arrested and the cleared areas must be fenced to prevent encroachment again. The meeting also decided to stop commercial activities in Zone III and Margallah Hills.
