The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad has launched comprehensive operations to curb encroachments, as directed by the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority. These operations, carried out in collaboration with various departments, have targeted illegal settlements and encroachments in multiple sectors, aiming to reclaim public land for developmental purposes.
In a mega operation in Sector I-12, enforcement authorities utilized heavy machinery to dismantle numerous rooms and animal shelters, clearing an area spanning 275 kanals for sector development. Similarly, in Sector I-10/3, encroachments on government land, including hidden hotels and tire shops, were removed, reclaiming the land from illegal occupants.
In response to public complaints, an operation in the vicinity of the G-6 Melody Market area targeted illegal counters and makeshift structures, allowing for the removal of cartels and unapproved roadside setups, further securing public spaces. Additionally, the confiscation of three trucks belonging to the encroachment mafia was reported.
In Sector I-9/4, violations beyond plot boundaries, such as unauthorized fencing and additional sheds on government land, were demolished using heavy machinery. The authorities issued warnings to deter individuals from engaging in any form of encroachment beyond plot lines.
Moreover, in response to severe traffic disruptions at the Rawalpindi-Islamabad junction, an extensive operation was conducted at Mandi Mor, eliminating numerous fruit stalls and encroachments, thereby ensuring smooth traffic flow. Five trucks belonging to encroachers were seized in the process.
In Sector C-16, an illegal factory built on government land was dismantled using heavy machinery, facilitating the reclaiming of the land by the authorities.
The CDA administration confirmed that these operations will persist in the coming days, emphasizing a consistent crackdown against illegal constructions and encroachments. Over recent months, these operations have resulted in the reclamation of government land worth millions of rupees from encroachers.
It is evident that the crackdown on illegal encroachments and constructions will continue in the days ahead, indicating the administration’s commitment to reclaiming public land and maintaining order in the region.
