The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is progressing with plans for a major mixed-use initiative named Jinnah Square Downtown, to be developed on approximately 5,400 kanal of prime land located between Srinagar Highway and Murree Road. The zone will feature hotels, residential units, a hospital, commercial areas, and recreational spaces, with 40% of the land designated for development and 60% reserved for public green space and infrastructure.
Strategically nestled between Rawal Dam and the Margalla Hills, the project is poised to become a high-yield investment, potentially generating trillions in revenue over the next two decades. CDA reports that it already holds over 90% of the land, with only a small portion in Malpur pending clearance. The plan will be presented to the federal cabinet through the Ministry of Interior for final approval.
Initiated by CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, the concept arose from site visits that identified vast, underutilized land. Once approved, international consultants will be engaged for project execution. In parallel, CDA is also finalizing an underpass on Murree Road to connect directly to Srinagar Highway, facilitating better access to the new development zone.
