ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled plans to construct two new parking plazas in Islamabad.
This decision comes as the work on the Blue Area parking plaza, with an estimated cost of Rs 1.3 billion, is currently underway, with a deadline set for September 30th, 2023.
The Blue Area parking plaza has encountered delays due to challenges posed by a significant nullah and slush, which caused the project to miss its initial deadline.
However, CDA officials have confirmed that work is now progressing at full speed, and the plaza is expected to be completed on time.
Meanwhile, Tahir Mahmood, the director of works, announced that tenders would be issued within the next three days to award contracts for the construction of two additional plazas. One will be located in I-8 markaz, while the other will be situated in F-8.
He further revealed that the designs for four more plazas have been finalized, and the CDA will soon determine the timeline for their construction.
It is worth noting that the CDA had previously undertaken the construction of two underground parking spaces in Jinnah Super Market. However, despite significant investment, these spaces have not been utilized effectively.
The CDA officials emphasized that the parking issue has been exacerbated by the surge in the number of vehicles and the poor implementation of bylaws and planning.
