ISLAMABAD: The work to widen the Service Road (West) G-7 has been started by the Capital Development Authority, to ease the traffic flow headed from Faisal Mosque to Zero Point, before the main road is closed for the construction of an underpass at Sector G-7/G-8.
The Engineering Wing has been directed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Chief Commissioner Amer Ali to devise a comprehensive plan in consultation with the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) as well as CDA’s Transport and Traffic Planning Directorate (T&TP) that will ensure smooth traffic flow on the avenue beforehand.
During the initial phase, heavy machinery has been deployed as the earthwork for Service Road (West) of Sector G-7 is in progress. The traffic will be diverted on the Service Road from next weekend to initiate excavation work for the construction of the underpass
The Service Road (East) will be widened to serve as a diversion for the flow of traffic that will emerge from Zero Point and Kashmir Highway and help avert traffic congestions in the area.
The construction of the Sector G-7/G-8 underpass had been approved by the CDA to link sectors together. This eastern and western parts of the Federal capital will be connected by this signal-free corridor.
