The construction project, the contract of which was granted to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), was facing delays because of the existence of an old graveyard in the right of way near Shah Allah Ditta.

The civic body decided to change the alignment of the highway by 300 to 400 metres to bypass the graveyard. It will also give compensation to the owners of existing properties located on the right of way of the curve.

Previous plans considered the options of building a flyover and tunnels.

According to multiple sources, CDA Chairman has directed the Member Estate to settle the issue in a week’s time.

An official stated that 70% of the project’s work has already been carried out, starting from Sangjani and ending at sector D-12.

“We will complete the project in three months once we get possession of the land for the curve, which has been planned to bypass the graveyard,” he affirmed.
