ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA), on Thursday, announced that 787 buildings were to be sealed for violating CDA laws and regulations.
According to an official notification, the Directorate of Building Control, on the directives of Chairman, Noor ul Amin Mengal, was tasked with sealing or demolishing illegal construction in Islamabad.
As per the details, the demolition of buildings will occur in phases. In the first phase, buildings will be sealed or demolished in the areas of PWD, Lehtrar Road, Simly Dam Road and Kurri Road.
Among the projects that have been identified, 96 are located in Bani Gala, 75 in PWD, 43 in National Police Foundation, 146 on Simly Dam Road, 300 on Lehtrar Road, and 43 on Kurri Road.
In addition, the IT department of CDA has been directed to release the details of these buildings on the websites. This has been done to raise awareness among the public to not invest in these buildings.
Moreover, orders have also been issued to initiate criminal proceedings against the owners of illegal buildings.
According to further details, the enforcement of the aforementioned directions would come into effect by February 27, 2023.
