The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is pioneering a new chapter in urban reforestation by utilizing drones and helicopters for aerial seeding. This ambitious initiative aims to revive Islamabad’s natural beauty, focusing on the Margalla Hills and other underutilized areas, while addressing the city’s growing environmental challenges.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, along with environmental expert Rizwan Mehboob and senior officials, convened on Thursday to outline the campaign’s strategy. The plan includes leveraging advanced technology to conduct large-scale seeding efforts, ensuring maximum coverage in a shorter time frame.
Randhawa also stressed the importance of involving educational institutions and the corporate sector to build a sense of community ownership. By engaging students and businesses, the CDA aims to amplify the impact and foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
In addition to planting trees, the meeting emphasized preparing for forest fire prevention in National Hill Park ahead of the dry season. Rizwan Mehboob offered his voluntary assistance to help formulate effective fire management strategies and ensure the preservation of Islamabad’s green spaces.
With this campaign, the CDA seeks to not only reforest the capital but also set an example for sustainable environmental practices nationwide. Through innovation and collaboration, Islamabad is taking a significant step toward a greener, healthier future.
