CDWP approves 13 projects worth Rs88.24bn

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved 13 development projects worth Rs88.24 billion on Tuesday.

The CDWP meeting was presided over by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, where 11 uplift schemes worth Rs46.2 billion were approved while 2 projects worth Rs42.04 billion were recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) for review. 

Development projects related to energy, health, water, food and agriculture were discussed in the meeting. 

Three projects related to energy namely “Construction of new 132KV Grid Station & Transmission Lines” worth Rs9334 million, “Rehabilitation of  Sepco Distribution System under Federal PDP” worth Rs3000 million and “STG Plan 2021-22 Grant PSDP” worth Rs7009.08 million were approved in the meeting.  “Attabad Lake Hydropower Project (54 MW)” project worth Rs25347.526 million was referred to ECNEC for approval.

Projects related to health namely “Establishment of Medical & Nursing College at Gilgit” worth Rs4923.7478 million, ‘Construction of PHQ Hospital Gilgit Based on Sustainable Master Plan” worthRs 2962.730 million, “Strengthening existing capacity of NIH for effective response against Covid-19 Pandemic in Pakistan” worth Rs492.326 million and “Strengthening and Up-gradation of the Nursing and Midwifery sub sector in Pakistan” worth Rs8194.265 were given a go-ahead.  

Project related to water resources namely “Remodeling of Warsak Canal System in Peshawar & Nowshera District” worth Rs16695.81 million was referred to ECNEC for review. 

Four projects related to food and agriculture namely “Promotion of Olive Cultivation on Commercial Scale in Pakistan” worth Rs6410.229 million,  “Fostering Economic Growth through promotion of High Value Crops in Gilgit-Baltistan” worth Rs1500 million, “Enhancement of Livestock production in Gilgit-Baltistan” worth Rs1315.079 million and “Transforming Agriculture through Innovative Research in Gilgit-Baltistan” worth Rs1050 million were approved by in the meeting.
