CDWP approves 17 development projects worth Rs18.8 billion

Islamabad: A total of 17 development projects worth Rs18.8 billion have been approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) here on Monday. Other nine projects recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) for approval are worth Rs594.5 billion. The meeting was chaired by the Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar.

The 17 approved projects relate to transport and communication, energy, science, technology sectors, population planning, health, industry and commerce, food, agriculture and education.

The national food, security and research ministry referred five projects for consideration by Encec. These stand at a worth of Rs69,565.859 million. Three energy projects approved by Ecnec are worth Rs6891.195 million. Another approved project worth Rs1019.519 million is from the transport and communication sector. Four projects were presented from the science and technology sectors. Two each were presented by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Ministry of Science and Technology. These stand at a cost of Rs4977.638 million. Three projects from the health sector for consideration from Ecnec are worth Rs4772.150 million. The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission presented two projects at a cost of Rs3719.966 million. Three projects approved under population planning are worth Rs962.45 million. Four projects relating industries and commerce approved by Ecnec stand at a cost of Rs4612.226 million.

The meeting was attended by Secretary of Planning Zafar Hasan and senior officials from the federal and provincial governments.
