CDWP approves 7 developmental projects worth Rs24bn

ISLAMABAD: In a meeting presided by Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, the CDWP has approved seven developmental projects worth Rs24 billion.

Different projects related to energy, environment, governance and ICT were presented to the committee for approval.

The CDWP granted approval to supply additional sources to the three projects submitted related to energy, including Jaranwala Road Grid Station project costing Rs5.78 billion, 30.4 MW Jagran-1 Hydropower project, and the AJK project worth Rs4.3 billion.

The committee also approved the strengthening, upgradation and ISO certification of Karachi Laboratories Complex worth Rs440 million.

In addition, CDWP approved to install a weather surveillance radar worth Rs2.5 billion at Sukkar under the environment-related project submitted.

A ‘blended virtual education project’ worth Rs5.9 billion for the knowledge economy was also approved.

A project titled ‘rehabilitation of affected population residing along with LoC phase-1’ worth Rs3.6 billion was submitted by the Ministry of KA & GB was also approved by the CDWP.

The ‘capacity building on water quality monitoring SDG 6’ project worth Rs1.27 billion was also approved in the meeting, which was submitted to the Ministry of Climate Change.

Out of the 7 projects submitted, the ‘Pakistan single window’ project worth Rs1.1 billion was sent to the ECNEC after approval from the CDWP. The aim of the project is to facilitate trade, simplify and integrate the regulatory body’s process and system that reduce the barriers in cross border trade-related activities without compromising the required quality control.
