CDWP approves six uplift projects

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday approved six development projects worth Rs 348.5 billion.

The CDWP gave go-head to three uplift projects at the cost of Rs 6.5 billion and recommended three schemes worth  Rs 342 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for review. 

Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan chaired the meeting held at P-Block Secretariat. Senior government officials were in attendance while representatives from the provisional government joined the meeting through video conferencing. 

Development projects related to higher education, energy, and nutrition were discussed in the meeting.

The project related to nutrition was titled “Tackling Malnutrition induced Stunting in Pakistan –July 2021-June 2026” and was recommended to ECNEC for further consideration. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 312.41 billion. Another project titled “Tackling Malnutrition Induced Stunting in Pakistan –July 2021-June 2026” worth Rs 312.40 billion was also recommended to ECNEC for review. 

The project related to energy worth Rs 12.922 billion was titled “20 MW Hydropower Project Hanzel, Gilgit” was referred for consideration. 

Other projects related to higher education were discussed in the meeting. These include “Academic and Research Linkages with different countries/agencies under bilateral agreement” worth Rs 405.720 million,  “Infrastructure Development of COMSATS University Islamabad Permanent Campus, Abbottabad” worth Rs 3.486 billon, “Strengthening of Women University Swabi” worth Rs 2.6 billion.
