CDWP okays five projects worth Rs 26bn

ISLAMABAD:  The Planning Commission’s Central Development Working Party (CDWP) meeting approved four development projects worth Rs 8.7 billion and suggested one project worth Rs 17 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for review.

Secretary Planning, officials from Planning Commission, federal ministries/divisions and officials from provincial governments were part of the meeting. 

As per reports, projects related to housing, energy, science and technology were discussed in the meeting. 

“30MW Hydro Power Project at Ghowari District Ghanche Gilgit-Baltistan” worth Rs 16399.760 million was referred to ECNEC for further consideration. The power generated through this project will be diverted to adjacent areas of Skardu and  load centres of Ghanche district via 5 km long, 66kv transmission lines.

Another Physical Planning & Housing project worth Rs 1200 million named “Development of Ziarat Town’ focusing on infrastructure development was also approved in the meeting. The project will cater to development of missing tourism infrastructure, widening & improvement existing roads, regeneration of the old town and socio-economic uplift of Ziariat Town
