Through correlative consultation, China will actively help Pakistan in carrying out projects for the betterment of people’s livelihood, said Cheng Xizhong, a visiting professor of Southwest University of Political Science and Law.

According to Xizhong, the construction of the CPEC is progressing without any hitch. The first phase of CPEC consisting of 22 projects with a cumulative investment of $19 billion is close to completion. This has further stabilised Pakistan’s economy. Comprehensive socio-economic development can be achieved on this foundation.

As the CPEC construction will enter the second stage, the focus will mainly be on industrial and agricultural cooperation, Gwadar Port construction and socio-economic development. 27 new projects will be launched this year focusing on the aforementioned sectors. Prime Minister Imran Khan has also been appreciative of the development opportunities provided by China to Pakistan. This is a testament to the unbreakable ties of the two strategic partners.
