
RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi, Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah has directed the relevant departments to cancel the land acquisition for the construction of Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR).
According to the details, the orders about the construction of ring road in Attock and Rawalpindi have been cancelled by the commissioner.
Furthermore, the commissioner has also directed teams to recover compensation money worth Rs2.45bn paid to the landowners.
After the alleged corruption, and the changes made to the original alignment of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project the project has been halted and the project is awaiting resumption.
The original alignment of RRR revolves around Rawat and Thalian near the motorway.
