ISLAMABAD – The ministry of planning has been directed by the Senate Special Committee on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to finalize the requirements necessary to hasten the establishment of CPEC Authority.
With the government’s decision to revise the laws and policies regarding various aspects of the CPEC, the Senate Special Committee on CPEC wants the immediate establishment of CPEC Authority. The political parties in opposite express concerns regarding the magnitude of the project and the implications of decisions taken without thorough deliberation and input from all the sectors and regions of the country.
The Chairperson of the committee Senator Sherry Rehman said CPEC was a national project and all political parties were unanimously in favour of this project, however, she said rules and regulation of the Authority must be acceptable to all the political parties.
