Islamabad: Details of the agreement signed between Pakistan and China in regards to Karachi-Lahore-Peshawar rail track have been asked for by a parliamentary committee.
As per the requests received under rule 225(4) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in National Assembly (NA) from the members of standing committee, the Chairman for Standing Committee on Railways Mueen Wattoo has called for meetings on May 17 and May 20.
The first meeting will discuss the financial situation of the Pakistan railways (PR) in the initial half year of the present government. Cost-benefit ratio and feasibility studies of the passenger trains will be deliberated. Details of new signed MoUs if any will also be provided.
The second meeting will have under discussion the financial viability of job creation in PR in addition to the timeliness of trains in the last three years.
