
RAWALPINDI: Cleansing and desilting work of Nallah Lai has been initiated on the direction of Commissioner Rawalpindi Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah and monitoring teams have also been formed.
The inspection of the cleaning work of Nallah Lai on Gawalmandi was conducted by Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) officials and Director Local Government and Community Development Amna Rafique.
As per reports, drain from Murree Road, Katarian and adjacent areas will be cleaned by WASA and any hindrances in the flow of water will be eliminated. Solid waste and silt will also be removed with the help of heavy machinery.
According to the Managing Director WASA, the monsoon plan for 2021 has been finalised which will include annual cleaning of Nallah Lai, cleaning of sewage lines and inspection of WASA machinery.
The machinery used for the cleaning project includes 28 dewatering sets, 6 suction machines, 24 water bowsers and 5 jetting machines. All machinery is in working order.
Municipal Corporation and Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) will oversee the cleaning of drains and nallahs in the city.
The commissioner has instructed relevant authorities to complete the cleaning on time to prevent Rawalpindi from floods.
WASA Chairman Tariq Murtaza has appealed to the locals to facilitate the government and not litter the Nallah.
