Islamabad: Finance Minister Asad Umar chaired a meeting of Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). Two development projects for Balochistan with a total cost of Rs.96 billion have been approved.
A proposal of the Ministry of Communications for the introduction of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) has been approved. The dualization of Kuchlak- Zhob section N-50 of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be of significant benefit to the people in the vicinity. The Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) will fund the land acquisition at a cost of Rs.11 billion. The construction and dualization of Kuchlak-Zhob Section of N-50 will itself cost Rs.67.638 billion.
The Power Division’s proposal to interconnect isolated areas of Gwadar and Makran with the national grid system of Pakistan has also been approved. The project is expected to be completed in three years by the Quetta Electric Supply Company. Proposed cost for this project stands at Rs.17.42 billion.
