Under the poverty alleviation programme ‘Ehsas’ for Pakistan a dedicated amount of Rs80 billion will be allocated for its purpose.
The programme aims to helping street children, migrants, child labour, bonded labour victims and transgender from the marginalized segment of the society.
A new ministry is under formation for social protection and poverty alleviation. Centralizing efforts to coordinate on addressing related issues will be the main objective of this ministry. Prior to initiating the programme however, Article 38(D) of the Constitution will be amended. It will make provision of food, shelter, clothing, education and health care possible for those who cannot earn a livelihood due to infirmity, sickness, unemployment or state responsibility.
Bait-ul-Maal will fund homes for 10,000 orphaned children in four years. Labourers will be given protection. Launch of ‘Tahafuz’ for the protection of individuals from catastrophic risks will also be done. A programme for asset transfers worth Rs5 billion in five districts has also been launched through ‘Khalafat.’
