
KARACHI: A notification issued on Wednesday night, by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) addressed the Commissioner Inland Revenue to seek details of income of doctors and surgeons associated with Karachi’s major hospitals and health institutes.
FBR Chairman Shabbar Zaidi said that starting from Karachi in the first phase, notices were issued in order to document all professions and sectors. Under the Income Tax Ordinance, people having taxable income would have to file their returns.
Notices to hospitals all across the country will be sent to seek information about non-filer doctors, said Chairman FBR.
He said, “In order to find out new taxpayers, the office has sent notices under Section 176 to 30 hospitals, asking for the provision of information about the practising doctors, their income and other related matters.”
