FBR calls traders for talk, deadline approaches

ISLAMABAD: To settle all existing issues like big retailers sales tax registration, CNIC condition and the fixed tax regime for small shopkeepers, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have sent an offer of talks on September 27 (Friday) to the representatives of the trade bodies, before the deadline approaches on September 30.

The trader groups have remains divided over the response to the proposed talks. In an official statement by the FBR, almost 32 associations have asked for inclusion in talks.

On the other hand, Naeem Mir of All Pakistan Anjuman-i-Tajiran refused the FBR’s request for talks informed that despite the talks with FBR no concrete decision could be finalised.

Furthermore, a number of Karachi-based associations have planned a sit-in at Motondas Mustafa Cloth Market Alam Chowk at M. A. Jinnah Road on Sept 27 at 1.30 p.m., as the talks between the FBR and trade bodies over the budgetary measures and fixed tax system failed earlier.

Markazi Tanzeem Tajiran Pakistan Chairman Kashif Chaudhry, All Karachi Tajir Ittehad Chairman Atiq Mir denied receiving any call or invitation from the FBR for talks. The also announced on being on the same page for a sit-in at the FBR House.
