Highlighting the challenges faced by women and the need to have effective and efficient legal mechanisms to implement laws, PODA President Sameena Nazir said it is time to make women a part of the rural economy sectors like farming, agricultural work, livestock, dairy, fisheries, and forestry.

The resolutions adopted on the occasions included the demand for the training of surveyors hired by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) to conduct surveys on how to collect sex-disaggregated data and how to include rural agricultural women’s work and productivity in the Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR).

The revised data of the PBS should be communicated widely. It was also suggested that one acre should be given to women farmers for agriculture. Access to loans and information technology to utilise environmentally sustainable sources of power and energy for rural women needs to be enhanced.

Representing women with disabilities, Erum Saaim urged to change our mind-set that allows the inclusion of all marginalised sections of society in the course of development.

As Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms Kanwal Shauzab was also a part of the ceremony, Nayab Ali, representing the transgender community called for ensuring inclusive polices for the participation of marginalised sections at all levels.
