The ground breaking of Mohmand Dam was held today. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan and former chief justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar.
Mohmand Dam under construction on River Swat will be completed by 2024 at an estimated cost of Rs183 billion. With a capacity to cater problems of electricity shortfall in Pakistan, this dam will generate 800MW of electricity.
The ceremony was held by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Dr. Noor-ul- Haq Qadri, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
