ISLAMABAD: Owners of apartment blocks in sector F-11 have been handed notices by the Building Control Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA) for violating building by-laws.
The Building Control Directorate had recently carried out a survey of the commercial buildings in Islamabad to gather relevant data. The findings of the survey stated that owners of some of the apartment blocks in sector F-11 have constructed residential flats in their respective basements, which is a clear violation of building by-laws.
Notices for the immediate removal of violations have been issued, with the Building Control Directorate stating that as per the by-laws, basements in apartment blocks are meant for parking vehicles.
It was revealed that the owners had attempted to construct flats in the basements during the construction of the buildings. However, their scheme was foiled and they were forced to remove the structures.
With the construction of the apartments completed, the parking facility was once again converted into flats and were operating as residential spaces until CDA’s recent intervention.
